I N T E R L U D E Francis Fox Alchemy Series This exhibition is an investigation of the zone between the virtual and the physical using holography and spectral images - a reality that exists between what we know and what we see. Inspired by alchemy, the mixture of science and mysticism which flourished between the dark ages and the renaissance, this new work focuses on that slippery space between illusion and reality.** These sculptures often exhibit clusters and intersections that suggest an order reminiscent of those seen in natural and human-made systems. The patterns relate to notions of evolution from the growth of lichen to the earth’s topography, the mapping of cities and roads, the structure of synthetic molecules, the construction of computer chips, or the scattering of stars.
